Elizabeth "Betty" Schaefers
Gladstone
January 29, 1932 — October 24, 2026
Morehead City
Elizabeth Schaefers Gladstone, 94, entered her long-awaited life's reward on October 25, 2026, in Morehead City, North Carolina.
Born on January 29, 1932, in Long Island, New York, she was known to family and friends as Betty. Betty's ancestry was both German and Dutch.
A homemaker, liturgical artist, writer, and healing minister, Betty devoted her life to home, creativity, and faith. Her work reflected the many ways she expressed herself, glorified God, and offered care to others.
Betty was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and a founding member of All Saints Anglican Church where she and her husband both served. Betty's liturgical work can be seen in many forms in the sanctuary of All Saints. Her passion for her church was equaled by her dedication to Group Homes for the Autistic in Albemarle, NC.
Betty is survived by her son, Mark Gladstone; her daughter, Jackie Bolinaga; her grandson, John Moon; and her granddaughter, Ashley Moon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Gladstone; her son, Jeff Gladstone; and her grandson, Jacob Moon.
Betty will be remembered for her devotion to her family and for a life enriched by artistic expression and shared with many, writing, and ministry. Her memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
