Edward "Blue" Gateley Jr., 64, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Edward, known to his family and friends as "Blue," was born on August 23, 1961, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Edward Sherman Gateley Sr. and Charlotte Gateley.

Blue proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he worked in Civil Service as a sheet metal mechanic. A hardworking and dependable man, Blue was exceptionally handy and could fix anything around the house.

A true Renaissance man, Blue had a wide variety of cultural interests and hobbies. He loved motorcycles and enjoyed spending time on the water boating. A devoted music enthusiast, he especially enjoyed attending concerts. He also valued staying physically active and enjoyed running with his Hash House Harriers group.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 40 years, Sheila Gateley; sister, Susan Figuerla of Harvest, Alabama; and brother, Bruce Gateley and wife Pat of Brainerd, Minnesota.
