Earnest Edward Guthrie, Jr.

June 4, 1958 — July 25, 2025

Newport

Earnest “Eddie” Edward Guthrie, Jr., 67 of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on July 25, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.

A memorial service to honor Eddie’s life will be held at 3p.m., Sunday, August 3, at Cedar Point Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by Pastor David Harper.

Eddie was born on June 4, 1958, in Morehead City, NC to the late Ernest and Linda Guthrie. Eddie, a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather was a man of deep faith who loved the Lord with all his heart and led many others to know Him. His life was a testimony of generosity, kindness, and unwavering belief. He had a heart bigger than the outdoors shown by always helping others and giving without expecting anything in return.

A true outdoorsman, Eddie found joy in deer hunting, running his dogs, and especially hearing them run through the woods. His passion for the hunt was only rivaled by the love he had for his family. He was a jokester at heart who loved to “cut up,” bringing laughter and light wherever he went.

He adored his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Among them all, Easton held a special place in his heart as a cherished grandchild and special nephew, Michael Paul Guthrie. His bond with his family was unshakable, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Eddie leaves behind a legacy of faith, laughter, love, and selflessness. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his wife Gisele Guthrie of the home; daughters, Natasha Murphy (Jim) of West Monroe, LA and Melissa Adams (Gene) of Newport; sisters, Minerva Cannon (Joey), and Sheli Jeanne Guthrie; brother, Donald Guthrie (Darlene) of Newport; grandchildren, Michaela Felicetty (Kegan), Patrick Murphy, Colton Giles, Marianna Murphy, Easton Adams, and Emersyn Adams; great-grandchild, Austin Felicetty; many loving nieces and nephews; and best friend David Harper.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his sister, Sara Lynn Guthrie, and his fur baby, Shianne.
