Obituary

Donna Flannagan Adams, 62, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 26, 2026.

A memorial service to honor Donna's life will be held at Munden Funeral Home. Service details will be shared once finalized.

Born on December 18, 1963, in Cherry Point, North Carolina, Donna was the daughter of the late Basil "Flaps" Flannagan and Mervett "Benjie" Flannagan.

Donna was a familiar and beloved face throughout the Carteret and Craven County communities. As the longtime manager of Bayside Restaurant, she welcomed customers and staff like old friends. Donna never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. She was fun-loving, full of life, and truly one of those special people you were lucky to know. Her warm personality and the memories she made with others left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed her path.

Donna and her parents, affectionately known as Flaps and Benjie, were well known in the Carteret and Craven communities for their involvement and dedication to local traditions.

Donna also had a special enthusiasm for scratch-off lottery tickets, always enjoying the excitement of seeing if luck was on her side. But her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved them dearly and was especially devoted to her grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil every chance she got.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, David Quincey Adams and wife Hannah of Newport, NC; sisters, Denise Montgomery and Debbie Penley and husband Mike, all of Newport, NC; brother, Michael Flannagan of Alaska; grandchildren, Blake Adams and Trace Adams of Newport, NC; and niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Nick.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her husband, John Curtis Adams and brother-in-law, Chuck Montgomery.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome.
