Donald Wake Moore, 93, of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

A funeral service to honor Don’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 16th at Emerald Isle Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Freddie Braswell. The family will receive friends one half hour prior to the service.

His graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 17th at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens in Raleigh, officiated by his nephew, Kevin Moore.

Don was born on November 18, 1932, in Raleigh, NC, to the late Wake Columbus Moore and Burma Wilson Moore. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, an experience that reflected his deep sense of duty and love of country. After his military service, Don had a successful career as a Sr. Engineer with Southern Bell, where his dedication and work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

He loved the Lord. With a smile on his face and the best whistle you’ve ever heard, he was always there to lend a helping hand to family, friends and strangers.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jane Davis Moore; daughters, Lisa Moore and Wanda Moore Bailey (Michael); 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son, Don Moore II.
