Dennis Dean White, 76, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Pruitt Health - Crystal Coast.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 7 at Victoria Cemetery in Marshallberg, officiated by Rev. Bill Hooper.

Dennis was born on November 7, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa, to the late Paul Dean White Sr. and Loretta Willard Wood.

Dennis proudly served his country for nine years in the United States Marine Corps, a time in his life that meant a great deal to him. His commitment to his fellow veterans never faded, he was always willing to lend a hand, offer guidance, or help someone navigate the benefits they deserved. Taking care of others, especially those who served, was simply part of who he was.

In 1976, following his military service, Dennis began a long and steady career in Civil Service at Cherry Point. Through hard work and determination, he rose to become head of quality assurance before retiring in 2004.

Dennis had a natural gift for working with his hands and a mind that loved figuring things out. He was always busy building, fixing, or tinkering with something, and there was little he couldn’t repair once he set his mind to it. Whether it was a piece of equipment or a computer, he enjoyed the challenge and the satisfaction of making things work again.

He also had a deep love for his canine companions. Over the course of 55 years of marriage, he and his wife shared their home with what often felt like just as many dogs. He never met one he didn’t like. Among them were Bart, his devoted Chihuahua mix who had eyes only for him, and Kahlua, their loyal Black Lab.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Susanne Jones White; daughter, Cathy Rose (Jon) of Gloucester, NC; son, David White (Tina) of Summerville, SC; brother, Paul Dean White (Jane) of Des Moine, IA; grandchildren, Rachel White of Summerville, SC, Michael Rose and Ryan Rose, both of Gloucester, NC Ashley Walker, and Jennifer Brock (Lyle), all of Charleston, SC; and great-grandchildren, Dawson Rose of Gloucester, NC, and Gerry Evans of Newport, NC.

In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his brother, Shawn Brumley and son, Dennis Dean White Jr.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Dennis’ name to a veteran charity of your choice.
