Major Dennis L. Moore, US Army, (Retired), 76, of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, passed away of a heart attack on Monday, February 26, 2024, at his home.
A memorial service, with Masonic Rites, to honor Dennis’ life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 6th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, NC, officiated by Phil Stroud. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.
In 2025, Dennis will be interred, with military honors, at Arlington National Cemetery.
Dennis was born on September 5, 1947, in Nash County, North Carolina, to the late John O. Moore and Juanita L. Moore. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and retired Major from the U.S. Army where he served with distinction. Dennis also was a Purple Heart recipient. He was known for his patriotism and dedication to serving his country whenever needed.
Dennis was a devoted family man and a proud member of the Patriot Guard and Rolling Thunder, where he expressed his love for motorcycles and honored his fellow veterans with respect and admiration. Dennis was quite the handyman and had the ability to build and repair just about anything and did so with ease.
More than anything Dennis loved his family. He was a supportive and loving husband, nurturing father, and proud grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 40 years, Karla Torrez; daughter, Cassandra Ditri (Ben) of Charlotte, NC; son, Jason Moore (Amber) of Woodstock, VA; brother, Greg Moore (Jennifer) of Apex, NC; and grandchildren, Hayden Ditri, Forest Moore, and Elliot Ditri.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his faithful companion, his dog, Gus.
