Deborah Lundy Beardwood, 77, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Carteret Health Care, with her loving family by her side.
In honor of Debbie's remarkable life, the family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12th, at Munden Funeral Home. Debbie will be laid to rest privately at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Deborah was born on June 18, 1948, in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Alvin and Marion Lundy. While in college, she met the love of her life on a blind date—a meeting that blossomed into 53 years of devoted marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life, spending 41 cherished years in Rocky Mount before retiring to the beach, where they continued to enjoy the next chapter of their journey side by side.
Debbie found her greatest joy in spending time with her beloved children, Kimberly and Robert. Her deep love for animals—especially cats—was a true reflection of her gentle and compassionate spirit. She cherished her time working out with friends at The Gym, where her energy and positivity touched everyone she met.
Debbie also loved the simple pleasures in life, like walking along the beach in search of seashells, finding peace and beauty in nature. She was one of the most selfless people you could ever meet—always putting the needs of others before her own, offering love and kindness freely.
A talented cook, Debbie had a special way of bringing people together through food. Those fortunate enough to taste her famous meatballs or sweet potato muffins knew they were experiencing something truly special—her love, shared through every bite.
Deborah will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, and a proud grandmother who held her family close to her heart.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Donald Beardwood; her daughter, Kimberly Blanchette, and husband Jerome of Charlotte, NC; her son, Robert Beardwood of Newport, NC; her sister, Cheryl Rosow, and husband Peter of Brooklyn, NY; and her cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Chase, and Emma Blanchette.
In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Bruce Beardwood; sister-in-law, Judith; and her precious granddaughter, Paige Blanchette.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Debbie’s memory to an Animal Shelter of one’s choice.
