David E. White, 88, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

David will be laid to rest privately at Broad Creek Community Cemetery.

Born on February 15, 1938, in Henderson, North Carolina, David was the beloved son of the late Robert and Neva White. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, a service that reflected his strong sense of dedication and responsibility.

Following his military service, David built a life around his talent and passion for working on automobiles. As the owner and operator of his own auto mechanic business, he was known for his hard work, skill, and determination.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Dorothy Cagle White; daughter, Christeen Golden; son, David Charles Golden; sister, Brenda Lee White; nieces, Christina White and Brenda Eve Miller; nephew, Donald White. Jr.; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; along with several more nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Ann Perryman; brother, Donald Cecil White; and grandchildren, Sunshine Golden Sanderlin and Christopher Perryman.
