David Arvis McGehee

David Arvis McGehee, 78, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Ocean View Cemetery in Beaufort, NC.

David was born on November 8,1946, in Carteret County to the late Arvis and Rowena McGehee. He graduated from Beaufort High School in 1965 and Atlantic Christian College, now known as Barton College, in 1969. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and later retired from Progress Energy as a Senior Systems Analyst.

David authored and published three novels, of which he was very proud. He also enjoyed photography, genealogy and breeding Labrador Retrievers. Above all, David loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Meredith McGehee, his grandchildren, Hannah McGehee and Skylar Nolan; and his former wife, Kathy McGehee.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, Blake Rafferty McGehee and his sister, Virginia McGehee Borowicz.

The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Brookdale Memory Care Unit as well as the Crystal Coast Hospice House. David was given compassionate care, patience, and love during his care at both facilities.
