Morehead City

David Jones, 66, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.

Born on August 19, 1957, in Oakland, California, David was the son of the late Frank Jones and Margaret Knight Jones. After graduating from high school, David proudly served his country in the States Air Force from 1975 to 1983, where his administrative skills were put to good use. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. David went on to have a successful career in the woodworking industry where he was employed at the American Plywood Association and Greenwood Forest Products.

One of David's greatest passions was working in his workshop where he would often be found fixing or creating things. He also had a deep love for the outdoors, particularly fishing and enjoying the beauty of the coast. A fervent interest in politics meant that any conversation with David on the subject was sure to be lively and engaging.

David enjoyed setting goals for himself and had hoped at the end of this month to be relaxing on the beach with his toes in the sand. It brings special comfort to his family to know that David is now at peace, with his toes nestled in the sand on the perfect beach in heaven.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Debra S. Jones; son, Jeremy H. Jones and wife Cindy of Mayodan, NC; brother, Chris Jones of Mariposa, CA; and grandsons, Jack and Max.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences.
