David Franklin Ennis Sr., 69, of Morehead City, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, May 24, 2025, at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City.
A graveside service to honor David’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 30th at Gethsemane Memorial Park, officiated by Dr. Nate Leonard. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, May 29th at Munden Funeral Home.
David was born in Goldsboro, NC, on May 12, 1956, to the late Myron “Moon” H. Ennis D.D.S. and Mattie JoAnne Ennis.
David dedicated many years to cultivating the landscapes he loved. He began his career in Carteret County as the Green Superintendent at the Bogue Banks Country Club, a role he held for 20 years. Following this, he established his own successful venture, Ennis Lawn Care, which he meticulously built and operated for three decades before retiring in 2024.
Outside of his professional life, David found immense joy in the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, cherishing the peace and challenge these pursuits offered. Above all, David treasured the time he spent with his beloved family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Teresa T. Ennis; his loving children, David F. Ennis Jr. and his wife Pamela E. Ennis, and Ashley M. Harrison and her husband H. James Harrison.
David was a proud grandfather to Noel E. Ennis, Channing J. Harrison, Sutton D. Harrison, and Hudson G. Harrison. He also leaves behind his brother, Ronald R. Ennis and his wife Debra S. Ennis.
