David Dwight Smith

David Dwight Smith, 48, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of David on Tuesday, June 17th, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Munden Funeral Home.

David was born on June 9, 1977, in Baltimore, Maryland. He dedicated his professional life to the field of Information Technology, serving with commitment in Civil Service at Cherry Point.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his children, Britney Utley (Julian), Destiny Smith, David Dwight Smith Jr. and Alex Smith, all of Newport; mother and stepfather, Beverly and Alonzo Collins of Newport; siblings, Diane Williams (Kevin) of Hopemills, Kevin Wright (Kristen) of Newport, and Angela Collins (Leroy) of Newport; grandchildren, Juan Jauregui “JJ” of Newport, Bella Mendoza of Atlantic, and Piper Smith of Newport; 8 nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him.

David was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Smith and maternal grandmother, Stella Smith.
