Damon Allan Root, 46, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, formerly of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on October 22, 2025.
A memorial service to honor Damon’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 9th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website.
Born on September 25, 1979, in Rushville, Indiana, Damon possessed a remarkable talent for working with his hands. His skills were seen in his precise construction of homes and carpentry work. As the proud owner of his own chimney sweeping business, Damon always demonstrated a commitment to quality and professional service.
Damon loved being outdoors. He enjoyed working in the yard, gardening and planting. Fishing was one of his favorite hobbies, as well as swimming. Damon loved traveling and cooking different cuisines for his family and friends. His love for online gaming allowed him to connect with friends, enjoying both the challenge of the game and the camaraderie with others. A true animal lover, Damon was happiest when his dogs were by his side.
His faith in the Lord was evident in the kindness he extended towards others.
Those surviving are his companion, Jamileh Moezivaziri of Louisiana; mother, Marlene Fay Johnston and husband Eric of Newport, NC; father, Carl Allan Root of Indiana; daughter, Molly Root, of Havelock NC; sister, Rachel Ann Root-Wilson and husband James of Newport, NC.
