Obituary

Cynthia Faye Huss, 62, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Carteret Health Care.

A celebration of life service to honor Cynthia’s life will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, May 21 at the Beaufort Hotel Pavilion Lawn, officiated by Pastor Patrick Whaley.

Cynthia was born on April 28, 1964, in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late William Jarrett and her mother, Anna “Nanny” Jarrett. She graduated from Concord University and earned her master’s degree in social work from West Virginia University. She went on to serve her community faithfully through her career with Atrium Health, working as a social worker for more than 25 years. Always with a caring heart and a listening ear.

Cindy loved boating, shopping, gardening, and spending time outdoors, especially taking walks with her beloved dog, Henry. She was an active member of the Beaufort Women’s Club and cherished the town of Beaufort and the special friendships she made. She had a special love for Disney, a remarkable eye for interior design, and an appreciation for older scary movies, with Jaws always remaining her favorite. Known for her warmth and strength she had a smile that could light up a room. She had a one-of-a-kind taste and a vibrant personality and could make any space feel welcoming.

Cindy treasured time spent with family, especially during holidays, her favorites being Christmas and Halloween. She was a devoted and caring mother who always went above and beyond for her two amazing children. Cindy was a loving mother who will be deeply missed.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, Brian Huss; daughter, Emily Ketterer (Grayson) of Morehead City, NC; son, William Huss of NAS Meridian, MS; mother, Anna “Nanny” Jarrett of Charleston, WV; sister, Laura Jarrett of Charleston, WV; nephews, Jeremy and Jordan Shanklin; great niece, Sophia Shanklin; sister in law, Cindy Latz (Tim); cousin, Kathy Ashworth (Bill); and several extended family members and very special friends.
