Coral Ann Garner

 Coral Ann Garner, 78, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Carteret Health Care.

The family will celebrate her life privately. 

Coral was born on April 4, 1945, in the village of Yoxford in East Suffolk, England. Growing up, Coral's creative spirit blossomed early on, as she possessed a keen eye for artistry and design. Her talents were displayed at Carolina Linen where she was employed as an Interior Designer. Coral lent her creative touch to countless projects, transforming spaces into welcoming havens for all to enjoy.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Coral's genuine love for gardening and cross-stitching brought her immense joy. Her green thumb was evident in the vibrant blooms and lush greenery that adorned her home. In her spare time, she would immerse herself in the art of cross-stitching, creating intricate masterpieces with delicate precision. Coral's hobbies were a testament to her gentle nature and her ability to find peace in the simple moments of life.

Coral shared a deep bond with her husband of 48 years, the late Robert Garner, whom she married when she was 21 years old. As a military wife, Coral adapted to the busy lifestyle, supporting her husband during his service in the Air Force. They lived in various places during this military career but eventually retired to the Crystal Coast, making Newport their forever home.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her beloved nephew, Steve Zeigler and his wife BJ Howorth-Zeigler of Newport; her dear friends, Allen Boyd of Newport, Tammy Willis of Otway, Sharon Ballou of Otway, Jan Davies of Newport, and Hope Dolmanet of Beaufort; and her faithful companion, her dog Daisey Mae. 

In addition to her husband, Coral was preceded in death by her mother, Amelia Elizabeth Balls.
