Christine Hope Atkinson

Christine Hope Atkinson, 67, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Peletier.

The family will celebrate her life privately.

Christine was born on March 15, 1956, in Syracuse, New York. She later moved to Craven County where she has enjoyed living for the past 25 years.

Christine was amazing with numbers, using that gift, she had a long and fulfilling career as a bookkeeper for a transmissions business. Her attention to detail and organizational skills were a perfect fit for her role there. Christine was also an entrepreneur and managed many types of businesses. Above all else, Christine cherished, cared for, and provided for her family.

In her free time, she could be found in her yard, gardening, and doing yard work. She enjoyed creating beautiful outdoor areas and had an amazing green thumb.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, Russell Atkinson of the residence; daughter, Kelly Haight of Peletier; son, Keith Haight (Diana) of Winterville; brothers, Alan Budd of Hampton, VA, Earl Goodman of Jackson, MS, and Todd Goodman of Lumberton, NC; and grandchildren, Victoria Haight, Emma Haight, Keith Haight, and Richard Haight.

Christine was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Johnson; father, Earl Budd; and sister, Gail Goodman.
