Chesley Gassett

September 2, 1983 — December 14, 2023

Morehead City

Chesley Gassett, 40, of Morehead City, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, December 14th, 2023, at his home.

The family invites you to join them for a reception in Chesley’s memory from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., Friday, January 5th, 2024, at the Carolina Home and Garden Center in Newport, NC.

Chesley was born on September 2, 1983, in Enterprise, Alabama. From an early age, Chesley had an intimate love and respect for the outdoors.  This love grew as Chesley graduated from Fayetteville Christian School and moved to eastern North Carolina where he attended East Carolina University, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 2005.

Upon graduation, Chesley planted his roots in Morehead City and his love for eastern North Carolina grew.  Chesley pursued an expansive and rewarding career in the outdoor industry.  Through this path, Chesley formed relationships with customers far and wide.  These relationships would almost certainly turn into close friendships, and he was loved by all those that he would come across.

Chesley’s love for the outdoors was unwavering, whether in the ocean or in the woods, he thoroughly enjoyed the thrills and adventures of nature.  He was a man who remained true to his principles. He was one to treat others with kindness and respect and his compassionate nature drew people to him, making lasting friendships that will never be forgotten.  His genuine authenticity made an impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.  He will be remembered as a loving son, devoted fiancé, and great friend.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his fiancé, Danielle Chapman of Morehead City; his parents, Ted and Kathy Gassett of Fayetteville, NC; grandmother, Donna Eldridge of Fayetteville, NC; grandmother, Ardieth J. Watson of Skipperville, Alabama; and his loving furry friends, his cats, George Jones and Fitzgerald, and dog, Nike.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Duke Children’s Hospital and Health Center, 2301 Erwin Road, Durham, NC 27705.

Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences at www.mundenfuneralhome.net.

Arrangements by Munden Funeral Home & Crematory of Morehead City, NC.
