Cheryl Lee Lewis Braswell, 78, of formerly Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on January 19, 2024, at Aspen Ridge in Gaylord, Michigan.
Daughter the late of Roy C. Lewis, Sr. and Sibyl (Hunnings) Lewis, Cheryl was born on September 5, 1945, in Morehead City, where she grew up and attended Morehead City High School.
Cheryl married Richard Braswell on August 17, 2014, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She worked as a licensing agent for the Marine Fisheries in North Carolina.
Chery was an artist at heart. She was an interior designer, a live stage actress, a sketch artist, and painter, loved singing, and could cut a rug shagging on the dance floor. Cheryl was also a member of the Ya Ya Sisterhood Club.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Braswell; her daughters, Laura J. Hendricks, Jeanne L. Young, and Jessica L. Wolf; her brother, Roy C. Lewis, Jr.; her grandchildren, Cory K. Godsey and his wife Lauren R. Godsey, and Joshua A. Godsey; and her great-grandchildren, Tory L. Godsey, Noah P. Godsey, Faith M. Godsey, and Odin Hunter Godsey.
Those wishing to make a charitable donation in Cheryl’s memory are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Association or an animal charity of their choice.
A private family service will be held at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey, Michigan.
A funeral service to honor Cheryl’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 30th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City. Interment will follow at Oceanview Cemetery in Beaufort. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
