Charles “Ray” Marks

Charles “Ray” Marks, 81, of Morehead City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Ray was born on May 27, 1940, in Washington, DC. He served honorably in the US Navy and following his time there, he worked and retired from the Department of Defense, Ft. Meade, Maryland.

Ray was an avid tennis player and was certified as a USTA Tennis Official after retiring to the Coast.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary of the home; his sister, Dianna Kent and nephew, Curtis Kent of Ft. Washington, MD; his nephews, Steve Smith (Amanda), Caleb Smith (Hillary) all of Warsaw, VA, Daniel Kelley, Aaron Sutt (Anashia), John Smith (Jana) all of Petersburg, Indiana; and his niece, Jamie Sutt (Brian) of Petersburgh, IN.

Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Metta Ray Edelen and father, Charles Francis Marks and his stepfather, Leland Stanford Edelen.
