Charles A. “Chuck” Kyle Jr., 94, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away at his home on July 17, 2025.

A celebration of Chuck's life will be held at a later date.

Born on December 28, 1930, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, Chuck was one of ten children born to the late Charles August Kyle Sr. and Bertha Ellen Kyle.

While working throughout his life as an electrician, Chuck also had an incredible talent for fixing anything that came his way. He often joked that he was a “jack of all trades and master at none” but those who knew him affectionately regarded him as a true MacGyver through and through. He wasn’t afraid to tackle a project and always did so with ease, including restoring his favorite classic International Scout vehicles.

A wellspring of knowledge, Chuck was a walking encyclopedia filled with interesting facts and details that always amazed his family and friends. Music was an important part of Chuck’s life, he enjoyed playing both the guitar and harmonica. His interest in old radios added to his appreciation of the melodies he loved so much.

Blessed with a wonderful family, Chuck will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather to his family who will miss him dearly.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 15 years, Sylvia Adams Kyle; daughters, Ruth Anne Coblenz (Ed) of Newport; Kathy Kyle Swindell of Swansboro, and Dana Green of Newport; sons, John Rush Kyle (Stephanie) of Havelock, NC, John Adams (Lesa) of Whiteville, TX, William Adams (Mindy) of Yorktown, VA, and Jason Adams (Danielle) of Jacksonville, FL; siblings, Jerry Kyle (JoJo) of Negley, OH and Mary Kyle of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Joshua Swindell (Vickie), Katy McClees (Scott), Kristina Ramsay (Trey), Garrison Kyle, Jasime Kyle, Jennifer Gould (Stephen), Brandon Adams, Ashley Adams, Landon Adams, and Kayla Stuart; great-grandchildren, Lilly Swindell, Keller McClees, Mollie Gould, Kane Gould; a host of nieces and nephews; and his special pets, Rosie and Sofi.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey Kyle; sons, Mark Steven Kyle, John Charles Kyle, and Danny Edward Kyle; son-in-law, Flash Swindell; siblings, Jim Kyle, Harry Kyle, Velma Telford, Tom Kyle, Bill Kyle, Donnie Kyle, and Pete Kyle; and grandson, Bryan Coblentz.
