Charles "Chuck" Edward Hudson, 91, of Newport, North Carolina, was received into God's glory on Monday, November 25, 2024, following a long bout with continuing illness. 

A graveside service, with military honors and Masonic Rites, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 29th at Gethsemane Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Joseph Park.

Chuck was born on October 7, 1933, in Quincy, Massachusetts, to the late Joseph and Marie Hudson. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years, achieving the rank of Gunnery Sergeant before retiring. Following his military service, Chuck continued to serve his country for another 20 years at the Naval Air Rework Facility at Cherry Point.

In addition to his professional achievements, Chuck was deeply involved in his community. He served with pride as a member of the Newport Volunteer Fire Department, where he also served as Chaplain. His commitment to public service extended to the Newport Town Council and Planning Board, as well as an active role as an Officer of the Newport Masonic Lodge. A long-standing member of St. James United Methodist Church, Chuck demonstrated his faith through service and leadership.

Chuck lived a life rich in service, travel, and adventure, all while nurturing a deep love for his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him, remaining forever in our thoughts.

Chuck shared his life with his beloved wife of 68 years, Dorothy Ann Hudson. Also remaining to treasure his memory are sons, Charles Leslie Hudson and wife Carol, and Gregg Edward Hudson and wife Joanie, all of Newport; grandchildren, Charles Lamar Hudson, Alexander Edward Hudson, and Matthew Adam Hargreaves and wife Amy; and great-grandchildren, Lillian Jordon, Madeline Jordon and Logan Hargreaves.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his son, Steven Michael Hudson.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attention: Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
