Catherine Ballew Bragg

Catherine Ballew Bragg, 89, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Bayview Nursing Home.

Her graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 27th, at Gethsemane Memorial Park, officiated by Pastor Don Hadley. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 26th at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock.

Catherine was born on April 22, 1934, in Blue Ridge, Georgia, to the late Roy and Dora Ballew. Catherine was a devoted organist at her home church, First Baptist in Havelock. Her music brought joy and inspiration to all who gathered to worship.

Beyond her musical talents, Catherine had a passion for arts and crafts. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She found solace and comfort when she worked in her garden cultivating her plants and flowers. Her love for her family knew no bounds. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends whose lives and hearts she touched.

Those left to treasure her memory are her sister, Janet Witek of Hawaii; sister-in-law, Sandy Ballew of Havelock; grandchildren, Jamie Davis (Michael) and David Bragg (Trisha); and great-grandchildren, Lottie, Sutton, and Wilder.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Stephen Bragg Sr.; son, James Stephen Bragg Jr.; brother, Garlen Ballew; sister, Shirley Jones and her spouse Jerry; and brother-in-law, Richard Witek.
