Catalina Marina Eubanks, affectionately known as "Cathy" by many who loved her, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, at the age of 86. She was surrounded by several cherished loved ones as she took her final rest.
Born on February 12, 1939, Catalina lived a life rich in love, devotion, and family. For 68 beautiful years, she shared her life in marriage with her beloved husband, Michael L. Eubanks. Together, they built a legacy grounded in faith, resilience, and enduring love.
She was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter, Lydia Eubanks Herb and husband Ronald of Lawsonville; and to her sons, Johnny O. Eubanks of Greensboro, Michael L. Eubanks, Jr. and wife Edna of Goldsboro, as well as James G. Eubanks and Keith A. Eubanks, both of Newport.
Catalina held a special place in her heart for her children, always guiding them with a steady hand and a heart full of grace. She was a lovely wife, a hardworking woman, and a devoted Christian whose faith shaped the way she lived. She found great joy in working outdoors and took pride in her garden, where her nurturing touch could be seen in every bloom.
Above all, she was a good mother—gentle yet strong, wise and full of compassion. Her life’s joy extended through generations. She is lovingly remembered by 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Catalina also leaves behind several dear nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by her kindness and unwavering love.
Catalina’s warmth, strength, and gentle presence will be deeply missed but forever carried in the hearts of those who knew her. Her life was a light that shone brightly and warmly on all she encountered, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas L. Eubanks; her daughter, Modesta Phillips; and per parents, Ramone and Libriata Borquez. Their memory remained close to her heart always.
A celebration of Catalina's life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 28th at Glad Tidings Church in the H20 Student Ministry Building, 4621 Country Club Road, Morehead City, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that acts of kindness be shared in Cathy’s memory—a reflection of the way she lived each day.
