Carolyn was born on January 2, 1935, in Morehead City, NC, to the late Clarence and Edith Dixon. She was a lifetime member of Salter Path Methodist Church. Her faith was an integral part of her identity, guiding her through the ups and downs of life.
Carolyn will always be remembered for her love and devotion to her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, creating beautiful memories that will be cherished forever. One of her greatest joys was traveling, and exploring new places with her family, husband, and grandkids.
Carolyn was an incredible cook, her cakes, pies, banana pudding, and collards were legendary, leaving everyone who tasted them craving for more. Christmas was an especially important time for Carolyn, as she delighted in preparing festive feasts that brought loved ones together.
With a long career with the U.S. Postal Service, Carolyn started as a mail sorter and teller. Through hard work and determination, she rose to the esteemed position of Postmaster before her retirement. She will be deeply missed by the Salter Path community where she was well respected and thoughtful, and kind spirit.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tammy Frost (Joey) and Telena Willis (Fiancé Dale Nelson), all of Salter Path; sisters, Joyce Hopewell of Atlantic Beach, Grace Frost of Salter Path, and Terry Lupton of Morehead City; grandchildren, Matthew Frost (Michelle), Ashley Willis (Madison), Wade “Trey” Willis III (Sarah Kate); and great-grandchildren, Leah Smith, Noah Frost, Maddox Frost, and Wyatt Donald Willis
The family would like to especially thank Carolyn’s special niece, Jeanne Cunningham, who was faithful to visit and take care of Carolyn.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Otis Spencer Pittman in 2012; sister, Margaret Cunningham; son-in-law, Donald Wade Willis Jr.
