Bruce Anthony
Flanders
June 30, 1942 — October 28, 2026
New Bern
Bruce Anthony Flanders, 84, died on October 28, 2026 at the Crystal Coast Hospice, in Newport, North Carolina.
Bruce was born in Swampscott, Massachusetts on June 30, 1942 to Prentiss and Alice (Normandeau) Flanders. He was raised in Derry, New Hampshire and graduated from Pinkerton Academy. Bruce lived in Derry for most of his adult life before living in Melbourne, Florida for 13 years. After living in Dover, New Hampshire for two years, Bruce moved to New Bern, North Carolina where he lived for the past three years.
Bruce served honorably in the United States Air Force. For many years he served as Building Inspector for the town of Windham, New Hampshire. As Windham's building inspector, Bruce was part of a sister-city project in Russia. He enjoyed many subsequent trips to Russia and formed lasting and close friendships there.
Bruce enjoyed playing cards and chess. He had an endearing and playful sense of humor, and everyone who knew him, loved him. Bruce suffered many losses during his 84 years, but through it all maintained a positive and uncomplaining spirit. In recent years he came to enjoy a quiet but firm faith in Jesus Christ. He looked forward to the moment that he could be reunited with Billy and Patrick, his two sons, both of whom pre-deceased him.
Bruce had five siblings. He is pre-deceased by three brothers, Warren Flanders, Lester Flanders, and Wayne Flanders. He leaves behind a sister, Mary Meroff, of Newport, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, there is no planned funeral service, and his ashes will be buried at Forest Hill Cemetery in East Derry alongside his beloved sons, William "Billy" Flanders and Patrick Flanders.
Bruce will be missed.
