Bonnie Elise Daulton Erickson passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026. She was born on May 22, 1942, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Jack and Marion Daulton. 

Bonnie pursued her undergraduate degree at Lake Erie College in Ohio and later at Douglass College in New Jersey, eventually graduating Summa cum Laude at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a PhD in social psychology. She maintained a lifelong zeal for learning.

Bonnie was married to Carl J. Erickson, the father of their daughter, Chris Erickson, earlier in her life. Later, she married Rudy Mikowetz who preceded her in death.

Bonnie lived in Durham, North Carolina with Carl for several years. She became the Assistant Dean of the Graduate School at Duke and also developed and directed the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, a program that continues today and has been duplicated by numerous other universities.

Later, in retirement, Bonnie moved to Galax, Virginia where she resided for many years. She loved the annual Galax Fiddler's Convention, having an enduring love of music. In her final years she moved to New Bern, North Carolina to be close to her daughter.

Bonnie will be remembered for not only her enthusiasm for learning and music, but also her brilliance and support of others. 

She is survived by her daughter, Chris Erickson; sister, June Haskell; brother, Dennis Daulton and his wife Janis; cousins, Margo Carrier and her husband Bruce, Lisa Sammet, Jonathan Sammet and James Sammet.
