Billie Sue Barbour, 78, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
A funeral service to honor Billie Sue’s life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 30th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Joseph Parks. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Billie Sue will be laid to rest privately at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Born on November 26, 1946, in Carteret County, NC, Billie Sue was the daughter of the late William “Bill” and Mary Carroll. Throughout her life, she exemplified a pure love for children, a passion that was evident in her work as a teacher’s assistant. She dedicated her time to ensuring every child felt cherished and valued. She had a dual role with the school system and also worked as a school bus driver, which she was quite proud of.
Billie Sue loved camping in their motor home at White Lake and Onslow Beach where she appreciated the beauty around her. She had many happy memories of fun times spent with friends and loved ones on their trips. Billie Sue had a special fondness for bluegrass music; drawn to its authentic sound and the energy it brought. An avid shopper, Billie Sue always looked forward to fun shopping excursions for new clothes, and she had a knack for seeking out unique clocks to enhance her collection.
Billie Sue will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, caring mother, and proud grandmother who held her family close to her heart.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her children, Leslie Carroll Barbour of Beaufort, NC, Jeffrey Travis Barbour (Sherry) of Newport, NC, Jessica Barbour Jones (Donny Jr.) of Morehead City, NC and Travis Devin Barbour of Newport, NC; sister, Jean House of Princeton, NC; sister-in-law, Alice Johnson; brother-in-law, Stacy Barbour; grandchildren, Quintin Ross Peaden, Jaylen Barbour, Bella Carroll Jones, Rob Jones, and River Barbour; special friends, Darlene Roberson and Sharon Baugus; and her furry companion, Gracie Mae.
In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sherrill Williford Barbour.
