Barry Alan Coleman, 62, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
A funeral service to honor Barry’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 20th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. James Bradley. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website.
Barry was born on June 8, 1963, in Elizabeth City, NC, to Rev. Willie H. Coleman Jr. and Janice Lovick Coleman. After graduating from West Carteret High School, Barry used his talents and skills to work for himself in the carpentry field. His craftsmanship, dedication and hard work were seen throughout his fulfilling career.
Barry had a broad range of interests and hobbies throughout his life. He had a knack for puzzles, enjoying the sense of accomplishment they brought. A passionate fisherman, he was always eager for the next big catch. As a devoted sports fan, Barry enjoyed rooting for his favorite teams, including Carolina Tarheels, the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Chicago Cubs. He loved old country music with its good old story telling and authentic guitars and fiddles.
With an infectious sense of humor that brought laughter to those around him, Barry was known for his ability to crack jokes and uplift spirits. However, it was his selfless nature and genuine kindness that truly defined him; he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, which showed his kindness and generosity in every aspect of his life.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lauren Coleman Boyd (Paul Settle) of Newport, NC; mother, Janice Lovick Coleman of Morehead City, NC; sister, Cheryl Coleman Sensenich (Dutch) of Newport, NC; brother, Joey Coleman (Lisa) of Newport, NC; sister-in-law, Michelle Smith Coleman of Morehead City, NC; grandchildren, Greyden Boyd and Addisyn Boyd; special lifetime friend, Tonya Doshier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Barry was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Willie H. Coleman Jr. and brother, Mark Eliot Coleman.
