Barbara Straub "Bobbie" Hill, 81, of Morehead City, died in her home on July 7. Born in Plattsburg, NY, she was the daughter of Robert and Jane Johnson Straub.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, at St. Francis By the Sea Episcopal Church in Salter Path at 1 pm.

She graduated from Coronado High School in Coronado, Ca. and graduated from Ole Miss University with a bachelor's degree in French and later from East Carolina University with her master's degree in English. She was named Miss Ole Miss University in 1965 and also runner-up for the title of Miss Mississippi that same year. She was a member of Pi Kappa Kappa sorority.

A realtor in Durham, NC and Carteret County for more than 20 years, she was a member of the Carteret County Association of Realtors and served as chairman of that organization's ethics and scholarship committees. She was a past president of Pine Knoll Shores Women's Club and a member of Chapter CY of Professional Educators Organization of Pine Knoll Shores, NC.

She was the co-editor of "Pass the Plate" the Collection from Christ Church cookbook and chairman of the cookbook committee for "Openings" Artistry in Small Bites for St. Francis By the Sea Episcopal Church.

She survived by her husband, Harold O'Briant, Jr., daughter Jane Stewart Hamlin (Will) of Raleigh; son Matt Stewart (Rhett) of Atlanta, GA., and son John Stewart (Lynn) of Morehead City; grandchildren, Drake Hamlin, Chase Stewart, Caroline Stewart, Lilly Stewart, Anna Stewart, Sutton Stewart, JIm Stewart, and CeCe Stewart.

Memorials may be made to the Music Program of St. Francis by the Sea.
