Arlene Toro, 75, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

Born on February 17, 1950, in Oakland, California, Arlene was the beloved daughter of the late James and Maxine Dennis. A lifelong supporter of her hometown team, the San Francisco 49ers, Arlene was known for her unwavering spirit and enthusiasm. Early in her life, she experienced the warmth and care of the Shriners Children’s Hospital, which fostered a deep connection that she maintained as a dedicated supporter throughout the years.

Arlene always enjoyed a crowd of friends and had fun creating many joyful memories, particularly during her weekly Bingo games at the Knights of Columbus every Monday.

Arlene was a devoted wife for 45 years, a nurturing mother, a spirited aunt, and a loving and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. Arlene’s vibrant presence and the love she shared will forever be cherished by her family and all who knew her.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her sons, Jeffrey Toro (MeLissa) of Maysville, NC and Benjamin Toro of Texarkana, AR; sister, Gayle Ballad of Grovetown, GA; niece, Alycia Ballard of Aiken, SC; nephew, James Ballard of Appling, GA; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benjamin “Sonny” Toro Jr. and brother-in-law, Lee Ballard.
