SSgt Anthony “Tony” Raymond Ridenour (USMC Retired), 78, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, December 8, 2025 at the VFW Post 7315 in Havelock.

Born on October 12, 1947, in Perry, Florida, Tony was the beloved son of the late Raymond and Carolyn Ridenour. His commitment to his country led him to serve in the United States Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Tony exemplified the core values of honor, courage, and commitment throughout his life. Following his distinguished military career, he continued to serve in civil service, retiring as a security officer for FRC East.

Tony was a dedicated supporter of veterans and was a beloved member of the VFW Post 7315, where he volunteered as a cook for over 20 years. He took great pride in honoring the sacrifices made by those who served in the military.

In addition to his military and civil service, Tony was an active member of the 11th NC Civil War Reenactment Group, one of North Carolina’s oldest continuously operating Civil War reenacting units. For more than 40 years, he passionately worked to educate the public about the lives of Civil War soldiers during the 1861–1865 period.

In his free time, Tony enjoyed fishing and was a devoted fan of Florida State University, proudly cheering for his home team.

Tony will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband of 44 years, a wonderful father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. His legacy of service and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Renee Ridenour; son, Eric Ridenour (Irina) of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Daniel Ridenour (Alliana), Katrina MacInnes (Nolan), and David Ridenour; and great-grandchildren, Vanessa and Elias.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Ridenour.
