Newport

Alma Lee Hill, 94, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Pruitt Health Crystal Coast.

Alma will be laid to rest privately at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Born on April 18, 1931, in Bethel Township, North Carolina, Alma was the daughter of the late Louis and Edna Eaves. She attended Cape Carteret Baptist Church, where her faith played a significant role in her life. Alma particularly enjoyed participating in the women’s meetings and cherished her time spent with friends. One of her simple pleasures in life was shopping, she always enjoyed finding new outfits to add to her wardrobe.

It was Alma’s unwavering love for her family that truly defined her. As a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, she found joy in nurturing her family. Her role expanded to include her grandchildren, whom she delighted in babysitting as they grew.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Joyce H. Graham (Ricky) of Newport, NC; sons, Bruce W. Hill (Ginger) of Lexington, NC and Larry J. Hill (Kim) of Newport, NC; grandchildren, Tabitha Allen, Laura Kahn, Joseph Graham, and John Hill; and 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Alma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph William “Joe” Hill and brothers, Howard Eaves and John Eaves.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, 204 Idol St., Thomasville, NC 27360.
