Allen was born on March 11, 1940, in Beaufort, NC, to the late Leslie and Carlotta Norris. A man of deep faith and commitment, he faithfully attended Tuttle's Grove Methodist Church. His service in the United States Coast Guard reflected his sense of duty and pride in serving his country. Allen was also a devoted Mason, with membership in Ocean Lodge #405 and he was a Masonic Shriner, dedicated to the principles of brotherhood and charity.
Well known in our community through his tire business, Super Tire Store, Allen’s integrity as well as expertise in his field, made him a great businessman and employer whose customer service was outstanding. His integrity, genuine care for others and the way he always took the time to be kind to everyone were just a couple of his amazing traits. Allen retired after 50 dedicated years.
Growing up on the coast, Allen always enjoyed fishing and looking forward to the next big catch. He always appreciated a good meal and was a regular at Cox’s Family Restaurant where he loved to eat and visit with the locals. Always a NASCAR fan, he was a devoted Dale Earnhart fan. One of his relaxing hobbies was keeping his bird feeders filled in his yard so he could enjoy their beauty and observe their activity.
More than anything, he loved his family and especially enjoyed cheering on his granddaughters at all their ball games.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Nina Davis; daughter, Angela Norris Baker (Vincent) of Havelock, NC; sisters, Ann Whaley of Morehead City, Joyce Guthrie of Morehead City, Gail Blanton of Greenville, and Shirley Herring of Morehead City; and granddaughters, Brittany Gail Baker of Havelock, and Victoria Allen McKown (Reed) of Arcadia, FL.
In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his brothers, Jamie Norris and Leslie D. “LD” Norris Jr.; great grandson, Beau Baker McKown; and his beloved fur babies, especially Velvet.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children's, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or Tuttle’s Grove Methodist Church, P.O. Box 2007, Beaufort, NC 28516.
