Albert was born on March 29, 1946, in Astoria, New York, to the late William and Albertha Charlton. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for more than 27 years. During his distinguished military career, he served in Vietnam and worked as an Aviation Fire Control Technician. Following his military service, he continued his work in electronics as a Harrier Simulator Technician, a role he faithfully served in for many years.
In his younger years Albert served as an instructor at the Marine Corps Ground Communications- Electronics School in Twentynine Palms, California, where he mentored and trained countless young Marines. He dedicated his time to his community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, always thankful to help a family in need.
Albert was a faithful member of Riverside Methodist Church in New Bern. Outside of work and service, he enjoyed collecting music and movies from the 1950’s, working on electronics, and riding motorcycles. He had a sharp mind, and a love for tinkering and fixing things. He loved spending time with his family and his dedication to them and his career will be remembered by all those lives he touched.
Those left to treasure his memory are his wife, Anita of the home; daughters, Susan Marie Spencer, Wendy Jane Fletcher, Josephine Begonia Hardesty (Roy), and Marianita Begonia; son, Daniel Begonia; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; nieces, Deborah Brookhart, Donna Marie Hellberg; and nephew, Donald Heck Jr.
